Modern Baby Shower Vs Traditional Baby Shower
Baby showers have changed over time. A modern baby shower can be radically different from a traditional baby shower if you choose.
Many people are starting to use baby showers as an opportunity to set up their postpartum support and solutions rather than the old fashion collecting of stuff. It’s all about making it work for you!
What Happens At A Traditional Baby Shower?
Ok, so once upon a time a baby shower was a ladies-only affair, and it pretty much always went like this:
Step 1: A female friend or family member organizes the shower on your behalf.
Step 2: In your later stages of pregnancy, your women pals rock up and bestow gifts upon you – mostly gifts that are useful for baby (or not so useful!) like onesies, cuddle toys and rattles in shades of either pink, blue or neutral (if the gender is unknown).
Step 3: Open your gift haul while everyone watches. Ooh-ing and aah-ing are mandatory.
Step 4: You heave a quiet sigh of relief when everyone leaves and slump on the couch to recover. Hopefully your organizer tidies up for you at this point!
Step 5: In the coming days, you quietly return anything to the store that you don’t need or you already have, or you re-gift the unwanted bits. And then baby comes and you quickly learn there are so many more practical things you could have been given that would have been so much more helpful during the period right after your baby was born.
How is a Modern Baby Shower Different?
